Practice Emphasis: Mr. Thompson focuses on representation of individuals in state and federal investigations, prosecutions, appeals, post-conviction matters, and related administrative proceedings, including other lawyers in disciplinary matters. Through those representations he has represented individuals in complex white collar cases and in major Ballot Measure 11 cases.

He obtained complete acquittals in the following Ballot Measure 11 cases:

  • State v. Ventura-Moran, Marion County Case No. 10C44353
  • State v. Reyes, Marion County Case No. 10C43530
  • State v. Siegrist, Polk County Case Nos. 11P3105 & 11P3414
  • State v. Yoder, Marion County Case No. 10C51416
On appeal, he has also represented the prevailing parties in:
  • State v. Page, 197 Or App 72 (2005)
  • State v. Roller, 201 Or App 166 (2005)
  • State v. Garza, 201 Or App 527 (2005)
  • State v. Litscher, 207 Or App 565 (2006)
  • State v. Hylton, 210 Or App 104 (2006)
  • State v. Vargas-Torres, 237 Or App 619 (2010)
  • State v. Miller, 238 Or App 338 (2010).
In all but one of those cases, Mr. Thompson represented individuals previously convicted of Ballot Measure 11 offenses.
Mr. Thompson is admitted to practice in state and federal courts, including the Oregon and United States Supreme Courts.
